Engineering Week Feb 16-20th
DU engineering students are celebrating Engineering Week with a faculty pancake cookoff, a computer game competition, a pie-eating contest, and more.
Congratulations Dr. Maryam Darbaheshti
The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering would like to congratulate Maryam on the successful defense on October 30, 2008 of her PhD dissertation "Accurate, In-Situ Measurement of Aerosol Size Distribution in 1-30 micron Size Range from Aircraft by Laser-Dopplrer Velocimetry".
First Annual Engineering Industry Day is a Great Success

The first annual Engineering Industry Day was held Friday, November 7, 2008. Over 30 industry representatives and 80 students participate in lunch, networking events, industry presentations, and a student internship panel discussion.
"Industry days even as a freshman was very interesting and motivating. Hearing some of the many options of internships and possible jobs is very exciting and encouraged me to keep working hard. I would definitely recommend that even to happen each year."

Bill Ghiglieri Passes his Masters Oral Defense
Bill Ghiglieri successfully defended his masters thesis entitled "Cross-Shear Based Wear Prediction of Total Disc Replacements" on Wednesday July 23rd. Bill's work represented a pioneering effort of the Computational Biomechanics group into total disk replacements for the spine. The effort developed a new method for predicting the impact of cross wear on disk degeneration. Bill will be returning to his home in Reno in mid August. We wish him the best of luck in his future career.
