Research Centers
Center for Orthopaedic Engineering
The recently formed Center for Orthopaedic Engineering applies engineering principles to investigate clinically relevant issues. Ongoing projects include the evaluation of joint mechanics in the knee, hip, shoulder and spine, musculoskeletal modeling, wearable sensor systems, modeling fluid-solid interactions.
Laboratories:
Computational Biomechanics Lab
Biofluids Lab
Nano-bio Laboratory
Graduate students within the program can complete PhD in Engineering and MS in Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering degrees.
Key Faculty:
Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering
History:
The center was established in 2007 to conduct nano-science related research between several departments of the University of Denver.
Goals:
Conduct state-of-the-art research in the area of nanoscience and nanoengineering.
Offer state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate education in the above area.
Objectives:
• The Center will create a forum for major research interactions among researchers from several departments at DU.
• Will provide strong “moral support” for junior faculty
Center for Advanced Materials and Structures

This center was established in 1996 to conduct collaborative research between the Departments of Engineering, Physics & Astronomy, and Chemistry & Biochemistry. Between 1996 and the present, the Center has graduated 7 PhDs and several Master students. Approximately 70 major journal publications have been published based on research performed by the Center. The Center has been heavily supported by the National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, the NASA Glenn Research Center, the Electric Power Research Institute, and various US electric utilities.
